This is the initial professional qualification of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). The course covers a range of relevant theoretical and practical personnel skills and is appropriate if you aspire to move into personnel or are already employed in a personnel role and wish to acquire a professional qualification.
What You Study
The CIPD Certificate in Human Resource Practice will develop key knowledge and understanding of the elements required within the human resource function. The subjects studied include: Developing yourself as an effective HR practitioner; Understanding organisations and the role of HR; Recording, analysing and using HR information; Undertaking a learning needs analysis; Resourcing talent; Supporting good practice in managing employment relations; Contributing to the process of job analysis.
You will be invited attend a course guidance interview to discuss your application.
It is a condition of the course that you join the CIPD, which involves a one-off administration and subscription fee.
Successful completion of the CIPD Certificate in Human Resource Practice will allow progression onto the CIPD Certificate in Human Resource Management and then on to the Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Development. Other progression routes might be through the CMI Diploma in Management or similar qualifications.
Successful completion of this CIPD professional certificate may assist with gaining employment as an HR Officer or Assistant with organisations in industry and commerce, as well as public utilities and public sector organisations such as the health service and local and central government. Completion of this qualification can also lead to Associate Membership of the CIPD.
