COURSE INFORMATION
This course will introduce you on to the higher level aspects of electrical engineering. You will take part in significant practical activities which are underpinned by a strong theoretical content that will guide you towards a career in electrical engineering. The academic level of this course is the same as year 1 at university.

- Electrical machine principles
- Three phase systems
- Electricity power systems
- Electrical networks
- Programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
- Electrical testing
- Engineering Maths 1 and 2
- Communications practical skills
- Combinational logic
- Fundamentals of control systems
- Graded unit
- One year full-time – this can be done at either our Rosyth or Glenrothes Campuses. If you would like to study at Glenrothes, you should apply for Electrical Engineering HND: year 1 which is the equivalent of an HNC: Electrical Engineering course
- Two years day release

One of the following:
- Two Highers at Level C or above, one of which must be Maths with the other coming from Physics, Chemistry, or Technological Studies
- Foundation Apprenticeship: Engineering SCQF Level 6
- National Certificate: Electrical Engineering SCQF Level 6
- Wind Turbine Maintenance (Technical Knowledge) SCQF ELvel 6
- Another relevant course at SCQF Level 6 (incorporating Maths: Tech 1 and 2) accompanied by a good academic reference recommending articulation to a higher level
- Relevant industry experience and/or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
In addition, internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference (ILR).
- Year 2 of HND: Electrical Engineering SCQF Level 8
