COURSE INFORMATION

Throughout the course, you will gain knowledge of the challenges and current thinking in business and, in particular, the challenges of decision making and of managing people effectively in organisations. You will develop your skills in managing your own performance and that of others.

Year 1

  • Managing people and organisations
  • Economics: an introduction
  • Marketing: an introduction
  • Business accounting
  • ICT in business: spreadsheets
  • Information technology: applications software
  • Communication
  • Business: graded unit 1
  • Economics 2: the world economy
  • Business law
  • The Core Skills of ICT, numeracy and communication will be developed and certificated on this course

Year 2

  • Business culture and strategy
  • Behavioural skills for business
  • ICT in business
  • Business contractual relationships
  • Preparing financial forecasts
  • Statistics for business
  • Business: graded unit 2
  • Economics 1: micro and macro
  • Two years full-time
  • Four years part-time – available through Saturday morning accelerated learning with flexible home study (minimum one calendar year)

Year 1

  • Two Highers at Level C or above in relevant subjects plus either four National 5s at Level C or above (See our Qualifications Explained page for details)
  • Advanced Certificate: Enterprise and Business
  • Industrial experience or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis

In addition, internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference (ILR).

Year 2

  • Internal candidates must successfully achieve year 1
  • External candidates must have evidence of successfully achieving HNC: Business
  • Direct entry in to year 2 requires HNC Business

In addition, internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference (ILR).

Employment in both public and private sector organisations in a range of business functions such as:
