COURSE INFORMATION

This short course is designed to update experienced gas engineers enabling them to prove their competence in the ACS assessments.

The course includes the following:

CEN1 - Central Heating Boilers covers the following core competencies:

  • Designed to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and commission Open Flued, Balanced Flued, Natural Draught and Fan Assisted, Central Heating/Hot Water Boilers and Circulators, Condensing Boilers, Back Boiler Units, Combination Boilers and Combination Units

WAT 1 - Water Heaters covers the following core competencies:

  • Designed to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and commission flueless instantaneous water heaters (input not exceeding 12kW) and open flued balanced and fan flued instantaneous water heaters (input exceeding 12kW)

HTR 1 - Fire and Wall Heaters covers the following core competencies:

  • Designed to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and open flued gas fire (radiant/convector), open flued inset live fuel effect gas fire (ILFE), open flued decorative fuel effect fires (DFE) balanced flue gas fire and balanced fan assisted wall heater

CKR 1 - Domestic Cookers Comprises of the following core competencies:

  • Designed to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and commission free standing and slide-in cookers, built-in hot plates, built-in/under ovens and grill units
  • 1 day training and 1 day practical assessment
  • Delivered in a classroom environment. You will also be assessed in College on your knowledge of both theory and practical aspects
  • The awarding body for this course is BPEC
  • National Gas Training and Assessment Centre, Dunfermline Campus

You must be an experienced gas engineer with appropriate City & Guilds/SVQ qualifications in gas, plumbing/ventilation. Candidates wishing to be reassessed are required to present evidence of previous ACS accreditation at the Centree before the assessment can take place.

Supervisory role as a:

  • Quality Assurance Engineer
  • Managing Installation Teams or Sales

At a later date you may wish to extend your skills in domestic appliances, LPG or commercial/industrial gas installations.
