COURSE INFORMATION

This short course is designed to update experienced gas engineers and will enable you to prove your competence in the ACS assessments.

The Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety course comprises the following core competencies:

  • Gas Safety Regulations
  • Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures
  • Characteristics of Combustion
  • Ventilation, Installation of Pipework and Fittings
  • Test of Soundness
  • Checking and/or Setting Meter Regulators
  • Identification of Unsafe Situations and the Use of Emergency Notices and Warning Labels
  • The Operating and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls
  • Flueing Standards
  • Flue Testing
  • Installation of Open
  • Balanced and Fan Assisted Flue Assemblies
  • Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Appliance
  • The Operating and Setting Appliance Burner Pressures and Gas Rates

The incorporated CPA1 element is also delivered in a classroom/workshop environment and is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of carrying out combustion performance gas analysis on gas fired appliances. You will also be assessed on combustion performance analysis during the CCN  assessment.

  • 2½ days training, ½ day theory assessment and 1½ days practical assessment
  • The awarding body for this course is BPEC
  • This course is delivered in a classroom/workshop environment, where you will also be assessed  on your knowledge of both theory and practical aspects
  • National Gas Training and Assessment Centre, Dunfermline Campus
  • You are required to provide certificated evidence of current ACS CCN1 qualification before attending this course
