COURSE INFORMATION

Students will learn to apply the five stage process of risk assessment when considering  the risks posed by machinery. Understand the types of mechanical hazards that machinery may present and how to control these risks following a hierarchical approach consistent with the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998, additionally student will be able to appreciate that other non mechanical hazards may be presented by machinery and the requirement to control these.  To apply this learning there are syndicate exercises during the course to allow students to apply their learning.  

  • To assess the risks presented by machinery and decide upon control measures to ensure the safety of people
  • Previous industry related experience or currently working within a sector relevant to this training would be advantageous
