COURSE INFORMATION

This course allows those attending to become familiar and conversant with the contents of the Water Byelaws 2004, the Water Industry Approved Contractor’s Scheme and the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme.

The course consists of 12 bite size modules designed to meet and follow the course syllabus and assessment.

The first session includes registration, and then follows the course of the modules within the course. This then continues into the second morning where the course is summarised prior to a final question and answer session before the assessment in the afternoon.

The following subject areas, as laid down by the byelaws, will be covered:

  • waste
  • misuse
  • undue consumption
  • contamination
  • erroneous measurement

Also covered, to facilitate understanding and knowledge, will be fluid categories as in Schedule 1, backflow protection as shown in Schedule 2 and various pipework arrangements to meet the requirements of the byelaws.

This course is primarily aimed at operatives working in the plumbing and heating industries and those working in the water industry.

Evidence of qualifications is required at the time of application to allow candidates’ applications to be processed.

Candidates must purchase, from BEPEC a copy of the Water Byelaws open learning pack at least 3 weeks prior to attending for assessment.

It should also be noted that candidates must provide 2 passport size photographs of themselves plus a copy of their national insurance number.

Satisfactory completion of this course will allow member firms to join an approved list of contractors under the industry scheme and should also facilitate access to courses in the renewables sector where it may be a pre-requisite.
