Former Fife College Apprentice, Kieran Howie from Dunfermline, has been awarded Automotive Apprentice of the Year at a special event held in memory of former lecturer, Brian Inches.
Kieran (22) completed his apprenticeship a few months ago with Ian Brown Motors in Dunfermline and has secured a full-time position thereafter.
Kieran was presented with Brian Inches Memorial Plaque by Brian’s wife Julie, who was delighted to attend the event at the College’s Stenton Campus in Glenrothes recently. Kieran was also presented with a certificate, plaque and an automotive Fluke digital multi-meter.
The memorial award was set up seven years ago after Brian, aged 46, sadly died from heart failure.
Julie said: “Brian worked at the College as a lecturer for many years and was passionate about teaching students. His background had always been the motor industry and he loved passing his knowledge on to others - he saw their potential and was keen to help them learn and do things right. Brian was hard working and full of fun and would be delighted that this prize was being awarded. I feel honoured that the College makes this award each year which helps to keep Brian’s memory alive.”

Kieran said: “I was really shocked when I found out – I thought they were joking at first! I’m chuffed to bits to win the award though.”
