Fife College has recently delivered a successful ‘Train the Trainer’ programme for local food-sector employer, Mowi. The two-day course equipped selected Mowi staff to deliver effective training across the company.

To date, 3 groups of employees have undertaken the training and, following evaluation which evidenced its effectiveness, 2 more groups are planned. In total, some 30 Mowi employees will benefit from the training.

As the world's largest supplier of farm-raised salmon and the recipient of the prestigious title of the ‘World's Most Sustainable Protein Producer’ by the Coller FAIRR Initiative, Mowi is committed to not only maintaining but always improving its standards of excellence. Mowi's achievements were further recognised when the company was honoured with the Training & Development Award at the Fife Business Awards in 2023, a testament to its efforts in investing in its people.

Donald Waring, Learning & Development Manager at Mowi, said:

We are growing quickly and made the business decision to invest in our own training capacity. Designed specifically for Mowi, the Fife College training was delivered on-site at our Rosyth facility and focused on the way we work and our needs. We are delighted with the results, the positive impact on performance across the business has been impressive.”

He continues, “Developing our people is a top priority for Mowi. As well as boosting productivity, offering training and career development opportunities also helps us to attract and retain talent. We value having Fife College as our local training and development partner and look forward to continuing to work together on further projects.”

Iain Hawker, Vice Principal – Quality and Academic Partnerships at Fife College, said:

“It's been a pleasure collaborating closely with Mowi, achieving success together through the delivery of this bespoke training programme. Fife College is dedicated to working with local partners to support their growth and ensuring a highly skilled workforce. Mowi’s commitment to upskilling their workforce not only helps supports their objectives, but also helps bolster the Fife economy.”
